Eugen Weidmann a German serial killer who used the alias M. Karrer. Weidmann strangled and robbed American dancer Jean de Koven, shot a former accomplice, and shot four other people around Paris in 1937. Weidmann confessed to the murders and was sentenced to death. Vincent de Moro-Giafferi, one of Weidmann's lawyers, also represented Henri Désiré Landru eighteen years earlier. Weidmann's execution was the last public execution in France. Eugen Weidmann was publicly beheaded by guillotine in 1939 at the prison Saint-Pierre in Versailles, France.
